Visitors

Visitors (minimum age 18 years) are welcome but must be accompanied by a Bowling member.

The use of mobile phones is banned in the Clubhouse and on the Green. It is also discouraged on the patio area during match play, emergencies excepted. Smoking is only permitted in the designated area.

Please ensure all visitors are fully aware of the Upminster Bowls Club Dress Code.

  • Men's Dress Code
    In the Clubhouse

    Smart casual clothes are to be worn on Club Social Occasions and in the dining room on Sunday lunchtimes, Saturday evenings and at the far end of the dining room on all occasions. Also in the front lounge bar on Sunday lunchtimes:- Buttoned through, sleeved, collared shirts tucked into trousers. Tailored full length trousers. Tailored jacket and tie preferred but are optional. No jumpers or sweaters.

    Casual clothes can be worn in all parts of the Clubhouse except when smart casual is required as above:- Sleeved and collared shirts tucked into trousers. Tailored full length trousers.

    Shoes are required to be worn with socks in the Clubhouse.

    No hats or caps to be worn in the Clubhouse.

    Bowls Wear

    Grey trousers, white long or short sleeved sports or tailored shirts tucked in and with a collar. Visitors with Club shirt, colours similar. White trousers may be required on special occasions.

    Bowls shoes – brown (white or grey are acceptable).

    Not Allowed

    Denims or jeans of any type. Track suits, leisure suits, shell suits or parts thereof, trainers, plimsolls, T-shirts or football/rugby style shirts either in the Clubhouse or on the Green.

    Any Member or Visitor who has dressed improperly will be asked to retire to obtain the correct dress.

    The Captain, Lady Captain, Vice Captains, Secretary, Members of the Management Committee, House Manager, Bar and Catering Staff have authority in this matter.

    The Captain and Lady Captain or in their absence the Secretary or Chair of Management have authority to relax the dress code when deemed appropriate. Members and Visitors should not deviate without their permission.

  • Ladies' Dress Code
    In the Clubhouse

    Ladies are expected to dress in a neat and tidy manner. All headwear must be removed when entering the Clubhouse.

    Bowls Wear

    White or grey skirts or trousers. White, long or short sleeved blouses or sports shirts with collar.

    Bowls shoes – brown (white or grey are acceptable).
